Ontario RAT-5 vs Ka-Bar Becker BK2?

Ive been debating about getting he BK2 for about two to three years. I know the scales leave much to desire and now I can order Micarta scales if I wanted.

The RAT-5 on the other had is something i have been thinking about recently. I'm looking for a quality fixed blade knife and I'm not looking for one of those gimmicky Rambo style knives. (I already have one of those that was given to me when I was in HS).

The reason I mentioned the two knives is because I like the the size, shape of the blade, and heft they both offer. Plus with there size I think both will make a nice camping knife.

So lets here your thoughts on these two knives. If any of you own either or both knives lets here the pros and cons of each knife.

I don't own either and after just looking at the specs and pics quickly I think I prefer the RAT. Now having said that I am a big fan of Cold Steel knives and my next 2 purchases are going to be GI Tantos.
Tough call.. I don't have either. I have a hard time making choices like this, So I am one to say BOTH. The rat does look just a little better.
Don't tell me I might have to go with Eeny, meeny, miney, mo. :)
I love both honestly but I always find myself leaning towards the BK2. Every review claims it is a tank of a knife and can take a ridiculous amount of abuse.

Ever since I read this thread actually..

That was an interesting thread.
After that knife reveiw, you can place it next to twinkies and paracord. Did that help you with your decision MrParacord?

I've been looking at the BK2 since it first came out so I was set on that knife for a while. But then I started reading about the RAT series of knives from a few forums about two years ago and I started considering them. So I'm still on the fence and I'm still undecided.

I would just get both. You can never have to many knifes, right?

My thoughts exactly.. OP I would get the BK2 first, then the RAT5 later on. Just me though.
I'm still deciding but ones thing for sure if I choose the BK2 I'm not into modding knives so I won't be ordering the micarta scales.
I have the BK2 and it's a great knife! A little thick and heavy, but extremely sharp out the box! I can't say anything bad about the BK2 it's perfect in my opinion.

Just make a knife, you can make solid knives from cheap things, I made a knife from a file.... 10" long 6" blade with paracord handle and it's razor sharp
