Cold Steel yes, BudK no.
Most of BudKs stuff is low quality show pieces,(I've broken a few) so if thats what you want go for it.
Go with a quality brand if you want good usable kinves.
Cold Steel, Kershaw, Spyderco, Benchmade, Boker, and CRKT all make great budget knives.

How long does it usually take you to make a knife?

I'm talking a simple design without scales and serrations. With a blade length of 5 to 6 inches.

It's usually takes me a month or so to get them out.
I've recently gained some tooling that helps the process along so I could probably get one like you describe out in a couple weeks.
