Help: 4 Strand Round Braid with 4 Different Colors

Can someone please explain to me how I can start and end a 4 strand round braid with 4 different colors? The tutorials I have seen start by folding 2 paracords in half so you essentially have 4 strands with 2 colors.

I would like to do this weave with 4 different colors and with a carabiner on each end, but i do not know ho to start or how to finish the ends of it. with 4 colors, I am assuming you must tie off all 4 strands on each end, but how do they attach to the carabiner, and will it hold when it is tugged on?

I assume that melting the ends together would not make a strong enough bond if I plan to use this as a dog leash. Am I wrong?
