This is my latest paracord fid. It is hardwood cedar from the Hill Country of TX, near Junction. Back in 2011 there was a huge wildfire, called the Oasis Pipeline Fire, that burned over half of the ranch and came within 20 yards of the main campsite before the fire fighters were able to turn it away. Recently, we took a trip to the ranch and I brought an armload of wood home, not really knowing what I was going to do with it all. A couple weeks later, it hit me that I have a shaver, a sander and that this wood was really smooth grained. What else to do with it but make a paracording fid. They kinda come out just the way they want to. Some have knots here and there, but they are all so smooth and soft after they are done, that it's pretty hard to put them down. The smell is also a huge plus.
