I'm just getting started in parachord. How much and what types should I purchase? I'm just looking to do basic craft stuff. Wrap knife handles, stock butts things like that.

I'd buy either 450 or 550 Type III... 450 is a little more flexible due to less cords in the core. There are tons of places to buy cord online or maybe at your local military surplus place. I wouldn't trust the stuff at Wally World, Hobby Lobby, etc.
